Become a discerning consumer of professional photography

When deciding on a professional, make sure that what they are showing is professional quality work. Don't ever let them give you the excuse, 'The Web' messes up my pictures. Today's professional photographer needs to be a master of photography skills, digital editing skills, printing guru and a knowledgeable web master. Learn to be be discerning when you review their galleries. What do I mean by that? Look for things like color casts. When shooting in nature or in the studio, surrounding colors can produce color casts. Take a look below: See the kitty on the left? See the green under her chin, on her shoulder? That is a color cast. Make sure the photographer you are considering gives you the correct color animals, blacks should not be blue and whites should not be pink/red or green, they should be white!
There are many things we can spend money on: lattes and laser treatments: massages and manicures: hair coloring, dining and entertainment. But when it comes to our best friends, our family, the ones we care so much about, do you have portraits that capture your heart over and over again? Our best friends are with us for much too short a time, don't let time get away from you and not have those treasured portraits and albums that reminds you all over again just how special your loved one is. Show the world how much your pets really mean to you. Treasure your pets with custom professional photography.

Some people call them pets, we call them family....

Do you long for a photograph of your pet that is in focus, well lit, and no "demon eyes"? Do you want something more than a snapshot?
Alair Photography: Treasure Your Pets: Golden Retriever
When is it time to choose custom professional photography? We think the best time to choose custom photography is now! Our pets are an important part of our lives. They are our family! They bring us unconditional love and joy and we do whatever it takes to ensure their happiness and health. Custom professional photography captures your pet in more than a photograph. It creates a treasured keepsake that you will cherish for years to come. You want the best for your 4 legged family members, why not custom professional photography? Many times people are surprised to see session fee and investment prices when inquiring about a custom professional photography session and products. They don't understand how those prices are derived. I hear 'Why are you charging me $25.00 for an 8x10 when I can get them printed at CVS for $3.99 and Walmart for 2.84? Most people come to a professional photographer because they are discerning and value individuality, design, creativity and above all, they want their pets photographed in such a way that is reflective of their pet. A true photography professional understands light, how to use the camera to help capture that special moment in time where expression and light come together to create a wonderful capture and they understand the digital darkroom. In an age where everyone has a digital camera (or camera phone), just because you can take a picture, do you consider it a portrait? If yes, GREAT! but if your snapshots leave you saying, "I wish I could get a beautiful photograph of my pet", hire a professional custom photographer. Professional photographers also understand how quality papers and display presentation make an impact on the viewer. Let me show you samples of my work so you can see the difference between my professional printing and do it yourself printing at CVS or Walmart. If you still want to print at CVS or Walmart, you can purchase digital copies of your photographs for $50.00 per photograph. I will give you printing rights so that you may print these at the printer of your choice! If you have ever considered a pet photography session

But have been hesitant. Sign up for a mini Studio Session to be held at Cohutta Country Store on Sept. 29. While we predominantly photography your pets on location, in natural light, we are bringing our studio lights to Cohutta Country Store so you can get a taste of a studio session! I love a studio session as an add on to a location shoot. Studio portraits have a bit more of a formal feel and I think that every client should consider one! Now's your chance to try them out and help our local rescue groups at the same time. Don't delay, call today! 706-340-9872.

Should I get a Canvas or a Collage?

I get asked that a lot when I go through the session photographs with clients. I almost always jokingly say both! But really, I do mean it as I have a collection that offers both a large 20x30 canvas and a framed collage of 4 prints sized at 20x20. When you buy this collection, you are purchasing these products with a saving of over 40% from the A La Carte pricing! I think it's a great deal. And if you need help with your budget, we offer flex pay too, so really the collections are the way to go. But if you can only purchase ONE product, (and believe me they are like potato chips, you can't have just one ) I ask the client to consider where they want to display the wall hanging. Depending on the photography and display area, I can help you visualize the photography in your home by creating a "virtual" sample of the products you are interested in.

Oh so chic..

I am so behind in posting to the blog.. my apologies. I am a bit better on FB. I just get caught up in life and sometimes my online life is put on the back burner.. I imagine you understand! Had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a home about 6 weeks ago. Here are a few glimpses. She was getting ready for a home tour and had just finished updating her beautiful decor and needed a few marketing shots for the tour of homes brochure and displays. I hate to call this shabby chic, because it is so well done. I need her to come to my hobble and help me out. She is the kind of designer who designs on a dime. She and her beautiful daughter updated her home.. What talented ladies! Enjoy!

A rough road for a sweet sweet kitty - Meet Bob the Cat

Not your typical cat, in more ways than one! He is very people and dog oriented. He also is suffering from a severe food allergy, which the owners are working with a dermatologist to try and nail down. And he just suffered acute renal failure 10 days ago. Poor little guy! But he is a trooper and seems back to his old self. The two top pictures were made 5 days ago. His food allergy was just getting under control before the renal failure and now everyone is anxiously watching to see how he handles the special diet to help the kidneys out. So far, so good, but the likelihood that he will be allergic to this special diet is high. We are hoping for the best for Bob and will be closely following his progress. If you have never seen a cat with a food allergy, Bob's picture where his face is all scabbed over is pretty textbook. One of Bob's favorite places to nap is in one of the dog crates, and he used to be quite the lizard hunter when he was an outdoor cat.
